The San Francisco District Attorney's Office has charged Scott Fisher, the boyfriend of 27-year-old California tech worker Kimberly Wong, with murder.

The District Attorney alleges that Fisher stabbed Wong to death in her Presidio Heights home. Fisher was arrested last week on suspicion of murder in Concord, according to San Francisco Standard.

The charges against Fisher include the use of a knife in the commission of the crime. At a brief court hearing on Monday, San Francisco Superior Court Judge Victor M. Hwang appointed the Public Defender's Office to represent Fisher. The arraignment was continued to Friday morning.

During the hearing, Fisher, who had most recently worked at Databricks, a San Francisco-based software company, responded with a single "yes" when asked if he agreed to continue the arraignment.

The Public Defender's Office expressed its commitment to represent Fisher vigorously.

"We're going to represent Scott Fisher zealously," said San Francisco Public Defender Meenha Lee after the hearing.

California Tech Worker Found Dead

Kimberly Wong, a California tech worker and product designer at Plaid, was discovered unresponsive in her apartment on November 30 during a well-being check by the San Francisco Police Department, per SF Gate.

Despite life-saving efforts, Wong was pronounced dead at the scene. Fisher was arrested in Concord on Thursday.

Medum Choe, Wong's neighbor for two years, described Wong as "extremely bright and outgoing."

Choe expressed shock and called the situation a "real tragedy."

"We're in a state of shock for the last couple of weeks. What happened is a real tragedy," Choe said, adding that they are glad that Fisher has been arrested and they are hoping that it would lead to justice for Wong.

If convicted, Fisher could face up to 26 years in state prison.

Wong, a product designer at Splunk and Plaid, has a background in human-centered design and engineering from the University of Washington.

On her personal website, Wong expressed her current role as a UX Designer at Splunk, dedicating her efforts to crafting technical experiences, KRON 4 noted.

Prior to immersing herself in San Francisco's dynamic tech environment, she successfully completed the Human Centered Design and Engineering B.S. program at the University of Washington.

During her academic journey, Wong developed a passion for bridging the divide between people and technology.

Notably, the California tech worker collaborated with Amazon Global Security Operations on her senior capstone project, showcasing her commitment to applying her skills in real-world contexts.

She enjoyed creating illustrations, solving crosswords, cooking, yoga, and outdoor activities like cycling and hiking.

A spokesperson from Plaid described Wong as a "smart, talented, and positive" employee, expressing devastation at the news of her passing.

The District Attorney's Office identified domestic violence as the motive behind Wong's killing.

The San Francisco Domestic Violence Consortium emphasized that domestic violence can happen to anyone and offered support to Wong's friends and family.

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins extended condolences to the victim's loved ones and affirmed the commitment to pursuing justice in court.

"I offer my condolences to the victim's friends and family and my unwavering commitment to pursuing justice in the courtroom," said Jenkins.
