A violent incident unfolded in North Austin, Texas, as a knife-wielding man embarked on a deadly stabbing spree, resulting in one woman's tragic death, according to KVUE.

The chaos began around 11:30 PM Saturday at a residence on Uttimer Lane near East Parmer Lane, leaving several victims in its wake.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the situation was initially reported when a man called the Texas police, revealing that he had been stabbed in the stomach and was bleeding profusely.

The caller also informed the authorities that the suspect remained inside the residence with a woman.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered one victim outside the home, gathering crucial information.

Inside, they heard distressing screams, prompting them to force entry.

Inside, they discovered a Texas man wielding a knife and holding a woman who appeared to have sustained stab wounds.

Swift action by the Texas police officers involved resulted in the Texas man being shot, allowing them to safely escort the victims out of the house.

Regrettably, further exploration of the residence revealed another woman who had succumbed to fatal stab wounds.

Interim Police Chief Robin Henderson commended the officers for their heroic response, which likely prevented additional loss of life.

"I would like to highlight the heroic actions of our officers, who acted swiftly and likely prevented further loss of life," Henderson said.

Two victims with stab wounds were transported to a local hospital, where they are currently in stable condition.

The Texas man, also injured, is receiving medical attention and is reported to be in stable condition. The APD is currently uncertain about the relationship between the suspect and the victims.

The first injured woman was successfully removed from the home, and three unharmed children present in the residence were safely evacuated.

Tragically, a second woman with stab wounds was discovered in a bedroom and, despite officers' attempts at life-saving measures, succumbed to her injuries.

Henderson confirmed that the officers involved in the incident did not sustain injuries, per KXAN.

The three Texas police officers discharged their firearms, with respective service durations of four years, more than five years, and eight months.

As part of standard protocol, these officers will be placed on administrative duty.

The entire incident was captured on body cameras, and the footage is expected to be released within ten business days, adhering to APD policy.

The APD will conduct both a criminal investigation through the special investigations unit in collaboration with the Travis County District Attorney's office and an administrative investigation by the Internal Affairs Unit in coordination with the Office of Police Oversight.

Neighbors, like Almadelia Rojas, were startled by the incident, attributing initial sounds to fireworks before realizing the severity of the situation, CBS Austin noted.

"I think it was the fireworks," she said, adding that when she heard more, she realized it was not.

Rojas, expressing fear and concern, highlighted the unexpected nature of the violence in their typically friendly neighborhood.

Expressing her heartbreak, Rojas mentioned her familiarity with the children in the affected home and shared the sentiment of sadness and disbelief within the community.

"I never see things like that. So the neighbors they're very nice," she said, stating that she always talks to them.

The Texas stabbing incident has left neighbors grappling with the aftermath and questioning the reasons behind such a tragic event.

"I feel so sad because they're very nice," Rojas said. "I don't even know who did that or why they did that."
