Three months after announcing his exit from 'American Idol,' Randy Jackson may be returning to the show after all.

According to Deadline, producer Jimmy Iovine is leaving the series and he'll possibly be replaced by Jackson, who served as a judge since the first season of the reality singing competition.

Iovine had served as an in-house mentor since Season 10.

Earlier this month, Fox chairman Kevin Reilly hinted that Jackson will be back for Season 13 and that a guest spot is a possibility, Deadline wrote.

The breaking news site also mentioned that Jackson's presence as a mentor would allow for continuity.

According to Deadline, David Hill will oversee the show and replace Fox reality head Mike Darnell, and Pers Blankens, Evan Prager and Jesse Ignjatovic will replace Ken Warwick and Nigel Lythgoe as executive producers.

Earlier this week, Jennifer Lopez's boyfriend Casper Smart announced she would be returning as an 'Idol' judge after a season-hiatus, joining Keith Urban on the panel.

Us Magazine recently reported that Lopez wants Scooter Braun to be the third judge. Braun is manager to many pop stars, including Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen and Psy.

Though the remaining seat on the panel remains vacant, songwriter-producer Dr. Luke is being pursued as the third judge, according to E! News. Sources also reported that will.i.am. was offered the judge position, but turned it down to return as a coach on 'The Voice' U.K.

At the end of Season 12 in May, judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Jackson all announced they wouldn't be returning to the show.

However, with Jackson set to be returning as a mentor, he and host Ryan Seacrest would be the only celebrities who have been a part of the show since its first season in 2002.

Season 13 of 'American Idol' is set to premiere in early 2014.
