Jenni Rivera may have accomplished a lot in her lifetime, but she never won a Grammy.

In her last interview with La Opinion, three months before her death, she told the publication that she was "only missing one."

At the party her family threw in honor of her birthday in North Hollywood recently, Juan Rivera, Jenni's youngest sibling, reconfirmed that "my sister longed for a Grammy very much."

Juan further explained that the album was released on June 30, so it would meet the requirements from The Recording Academy. Jenni's songs are now eligible to be nominated for the following year's Grammy ceremony.

The new album became the No. 1 record for regional Mexican music quickly after its release, La Opinion noted.

Rosie Rivera added that she expected people to buy the record, but she didn't think it would happen so quickly.

"Jenni always taught me to dream big," she said. "But we never had these expectations. It was an amazing surprise."

The family has been criticized for exploiting the late Rivera, but her family just wants her music and her name to be known by the next generations.

"We don't just want her name to be known now," Juan said. "Our dream is that her name transcends many generations."

For her birthday celebration, the singer's father, Pedro Rivera, announced on Instagram that they were selling keychains with her image on it. There are three images to choose from. His next post was to tell fans that there were also decorative plates they could buy.

His posts were met with mixed opinions by fans. Some were excited to purchase their items. Others thought it had gone too far and proved her family was just trying to make money off her name.
