Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner 'Flee' Oscars After Snub — Where Did They Go?
Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner vanished during the Best Animated Short segment and only resurfaced hours later amid a swirl of seat-filler intrigue.

Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner slipped out of the 98th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday night, vanishing mid-ceremony after Chalamet's Best Actor nomination for Marty Supreme went to Michael B. Jordan for Sinners. Eyewitnesses say the couple, seated in prime spots, disappeared during the Best Animated Short category and stayed gone for hours, with seat fillers rushed in to mask the gap.
For context, Chalamet had arrived riding a wave of buzz for Marty Supreme, the Josh Safdie-directed drama where he played ping-pong hustler Marty Mauser, a role that also netted the film a Best Picture nod. But the night unravelled fast.
Weeks earlier, Chalamet's offhand remark that 'no one cares' about opera or ballet anymore had blown up, drawing fire from arts purists and even jeopardising a Cartier endorsement. Host Conan O'Brien pounced in his opening monologue, quipping to the crowd, 'Security is extremely tight tonight... I'm told there's concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities.' He looked straight at Chalamet, adding, 'They are just mad you left out jazz!'

The absence hit like a whisper in a packed house. 'Timothée and Kylie disappeared during the Best Animated Short category and didn't come back for ages. It was a huge gap basically most of the show,' one insider told the Express. Nearby seats noticed quick, seat fillers slotted in almost instantly, but eyes kept drifting to the empty chairs.
'People kept looking over expecting them to come back, but they just didn't. It definitely raised eyebrows because nominees usually stay put,' the source added. Whispers rippled through the Dolby Theatre that the snub and barbs might finally have got to the 30-year-old star and his reality TV girlfriend.
Cameras caught Chalamet still there, his face unreadable amid the knowing murmurs. O'Brien tried to rally him from the stage, 'I'm vibing with Timothée right now, we're vibing, right?!' Silence.
'He doesn't think so, alright!' O'Brien shot back, milking the awkward beat. It was brutal, Chalamet facing a double whammy of no Best Actor and no Best Picture after all that campaign grind.
It was understandable if they bailed, given the sting. Marty Supreme had nine nominations, including directing for Safdie, but no wins, a far cry from frontrunner expectations.
Chalamet, also a producer, became the youngest ever up for both acting and producing nods, yet walked away empty-handed. The backlash from his arts comments lingered like a bad review, and industry chatter painted him as tone-deaf, more fame-chaser than serious player.
And Jenner? She stayed by his side on the carpet, all glam in a sleek gown, but insiders suggest the relentless ribbing wore thin for both.
Oscars Glory Eludes Chalamet and Jenner
Elsewhere, the night belonged to Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, which took Best Picture, Best Director, Supporting Actor for Sean Penn and two more awards, six in total. Sinners was not far behind with four, including Jordan's lead win, cinematography, original screenplay and score.
Jessie Buckley took Best Actress for Hamnet, while Amy Madigan won Supporting Actress for Weapons. Animation went to KPop Demon Hunters and international to Norway's Sentimental Value, with Frankenstein dominating the design categories.
