"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" husband Apollo Nida is getting a major jail sentence reduction for his massive bank fraud operation.

On Tuesday, Nida was sentenced to 8 years in prison -- only a fraction of his maximum sentence that was originally 30 years.

TMZ reports that the reason behind Nida's drastic reduction in jail time comes from his cooperation with the police.

According to TMZ, Nida cooperated with federal investigators by agreeing to "out" those involved with him in his scheme -- he became a snitch.

In addition to "snitching," Nida and his lawyers had been actively trying to reduce Nida's jail time in a different way.

Earlier this week, Nida's lawyers requested that the Atlanta district court change Nida's criminal history status from Criminal History Category V to Criminal History Category IV.

The reasoning behind the status change comes from the belief that Nida's offenses are not nearly as severe as the offenses of "drug king pins and violent offenders."

"Mr. Nida's lengthy but early small-time criminal history is simply not in the same league as the "violent offenders, drug kingpins, and perpetrators of far more serious offenses," Nida's lawyers stated in their request.

Since Nida's sentencing, his wife and "RHOA" star Phaedra Parks is getting love and support from her fellow "RHOA" cast members.

The Hollywood Life reports that Parks' "RHOA" enemy, Kenya Moore, tweeted an uplifting message aimed towards Parks despite she and Parks' rocky relationship on the show.

"You can't kick someone while their down even if they fell trying to trip you. Offer them a hand instead. #killthemwithkindness."

Moore also posted a second tweet expressing her concern for Parks' children now having to live without a father. The tweet has since been deleted. [The Hollywood Life]

Phaedra Parks is said to have not been involved in the bank fraud scheme. She and Nida had been attending marriage counseling prior to his sentencing on Tuesday.
