Chicago Bulls rookie Doug McDermott had a first-hand look on Derrick Rose's current shape, and the NBA rookie forward was impressed with the former Most Valuable Player.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, McDermott said that Rose, who has been practicing with the Bulls' summer league team, is looking like the old D-Rose because of his explosiveness.

"He looked explosive. He looks healthy," McDermott said. "I'm sure he's trying to get back into game shape more. But he looked like the old D-Rose to me."

McDermott, the 11th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, was also amazed with Rose's skills, saying that the 25-year-old point guard has been throwing incredible passes to them in practice.

"Derrick was on my team pretty much every day so that was really cool playing off him," McDermott said. "He looks really good. He's finding a lot of us on passes we never knew could be done. We've never played with point guards who can throw the passes he throws. So it's pretty cool."

Rose is looking to bounce back from two straight disappointing seasons, in which he has only played a total of 10 games. The former MVP missed the entire 2012-13 season due to a torn ACL in his left knee and only played in 10 games last season after sustaining a torn medial meniscus in his right knee.

The former Memphis standout was also named to the 19-man USA Basketball pool, who will train for the upcoming 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.

Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski is hoping that Rose, who was one of the best players in the squad that won the 2010 World Basketball Championships, will be ready to play in Spain.

"Well, we'd like to see him play like the Derrick of old, one of the best players in the world, an MVP in the NBA," Krzyzewski said via ESPN. "What we've heard is he's in great shape. We'll see how he'll do in five-on-five, on the fifth day we'll do intrasquad. Hopefully he's going to be in top shape."

Rose will compete with Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard and Kyrie Irving for the point guard spots on Team USA for this year's FIBA World Cup.
