Custom servers of Minecraft may be available for the Xbox One Edition sometime soon. Daniel Kaplan, a developer for Mojang, shared the information with Xbox Magazine saying that users could have online worlds of their own through the customizable servers, Total Xbox reported.

While he admitted that they are not yet sure how it would work, the company is looking into different solutions, believing that many gamers would enjoy this feature. He also added that the custom servers would be similar to what they are currently doing with the PC.

The player-owned custom servers would allow other players to explore the online worlds even while the owner is away. Furthermore, expanded multiplayer features will be offered in the game's new version.

Since the exact details are still unsure, some speculate that Microsoft servers would be stored on Azure servers or the Xbox Live cloud. However, the biggest challenge about this project would be to support all the possible worlds players would be setting up.

More worlds and more players who explore these worlds means that there would be exponential growth in the size of each file, especially when thousands of players could presumably be involved.

On the other hand, Mojang itself could offer the servers, but its coexistence with the Xbox Gold subscription has to be considered as well. Currently, services for the Minecraft Realms for developers are available for a monthly fee.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has launched its latest DLC that coincides with the theatrical release of the film "Guardians of the Galaxy," offering a skin pack following the theme of the movie, Examiner reported. The announcement for the DLC was made earlier this week, and it was also confirmed by the Xbox Live Arcade in its official website, saying that the add-on will be available for $1.99 starting Friday.
