A 16-month-old boy was shot and killed Sunday while sitting in his stroller in the Brownsville area of Brooklyn in New York City.

Police have launched an all-out search and have posted a $12,000 reward for information that could help authorities find and arrest the killer.

Antiq Hennis, who just celebrated his first birthday back in May, was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to the Associated Press, cops think the boy's father was the target in the horrific shooting incident that occurred when Hennis was crossing the street with his mother, Cherise Miller.

Police believe the shooting was gang-related; the boy's father has a criminal record and was not cooperating with the authorities in the investigation.

Hennis is not the only child that was involved in a shooting incident in the city this summer. A 3-year-old boy was shot and wounded while sleeping in his Brooklyn apartment just a couple weeks ago.

Police said Hennis' father had just gone to pick him up at the mother's home so that he could bring him to his grandmother's.

The boy's grandmother told the AP that she was nearby and heard the shots as Miller ran to get the boy's grandmother.

"And he fell on the ground and said, 'Grandma, my baby got shot! My baby got shot, Grandma!'"

Some people in the area feel that they can help the police identify the suspect.

"We know exactly who the shooter is," Tony Herbert said to the New York Post. "It was a beef between the shooter's brother and the baby's father."

"All I can say is it's very hard," the boy's grandfather told the NY Post. "He was a real joy. He always wanted to play."
