Some "50 Shades of Grey" fans aren't too happy with the recent high-profile castings made in the upcoming movie adaptation.

An online petition is suggesting that former "Gilmore Girls" star and "White Collar" actor Matt Bomer take over the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectivey. "Ben and Kate" actress Dakota Johnson and "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam were recently cast in the starring roles.

The petition posted on Change.org reads: "Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING."

Currently, 46,615 supporters have signed the petition. People behind the film, including the "Fifty Shades" trilogy author E.L. James, support the casting choices despite the backlash.

"To all the supporters, lovers and haters - thank you so much for the passion that you have for this project," James tweeted. "You all rock. All of you."

One of the film's producers, Dana Brunetti, also took to Twitter to defend Johnson and Hunnam.

"There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks," he tweeted. "Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc." He then told fans to keep all of those factors in mind when complaining about the casting choices.

Speaking of chemistry, The Wrap recently wrote that Universal Pictures wanted to make sure that Hunnam and Johnson would be sexually compatible on screen, as the movie will involve copious amounts of sex scenes. Hunnam wouldn't commit to the role without knowing his co-star, and the two had to perform a "chemistry read," which most likely included more than just reading.

While "Fifty Shades of Grey" won't be released until August 2014, Hunnam can next be seen in Season 6 of "Sons of Anarchy," which premieres Sept. 10 on FX. Johnson will appear in the upcoming street racer flick "Need for Speed," premiering March 2014.

Do you approve of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" casting choices? If not, who would rather see as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey?
