A Starbucks customer encountered a snake when he entered the coffee franchise's bathroom on Tuesday.

Bruce Ahlswede entered a San Antonio Starbucks' bathroom after a business presentation. When he saw something lying across the toilet, he thought it was a toy left behind as a prank. Soon, however, the snake began to move.

"I said 'Hey you've got a snake in your bathroom, and she's kind of freaking out,' " Ahlswede said in an interview with KSAT, a CNN affiliate.

The Starbucks employees and Michele, Ahlswede's wife, joined Ahlswede in the bathroom. Together, they watched as the snake slithered around the toilet and then disappeared.

"It had to have crawled up the pipes," Michele said on her Facebook page. "I have heard of it happening but have never seen it in person. Its a python guess he like coffee also."

According to a snake expert that KSAT contacted, the snake was probably a rat snake, which are not poisonous.

"A lot of people were really freaked out, and some said 'thanks a lot," Michelle said in an interview with KSAT.

According to the Ahlswede couple, Starbucks told them that the snake was never caught. The San Antonio Starbucks, however, told KSAT that coffee shop is safe.

The Ahlswedes said that they will continue to be Starbucks patrons.

The ray snake can reach up to seven feet in length and looks similar to pythons. According to the University of Austin Amphibian and Reptile Diversity Research Center, the rat snake is not dangerous to humans.

According to Forbes, Starbucks has plans to add variety to its product line. The coffee company will expand its Evolution brand with new snack bars under the Evolution Harvest line. Starbucks will also add Evolution Fresh juices to 8,000 of its cafes and grocery stores by the end of 2013.

Eventually, these new Starbucks drinks will replace Naked Juice, made by Pepsi, in Starbucks stores.

In addition, Starbucks has teamed up with Whole Foods. Whole Foods will soon sell 12 different flavors  of Starbucks' Evolution Fresh juices and three flavors of Starbucks' Evolution Harvest snack bars.

Last year, Starbucks bought Teavana, an Atlanta-based tea company, for $620 million. La Boulange, a San Francisco-based bakery franchise, was also purchased by Starbucks.
