Janay Rice defended Ray Rice from all the criticism that her embattled husband is getting following the release of the video showing the former Baltimore Ravens hitting his then-fiancée in the face.

Janay Rice, who was knocked out cold in the video after taking a punch from Ray Rice, said that the media made things worse, describing their current situation as a "horrible nightmare."

"No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted [opinions] from the public has caused my family," Janay Rice posted on Instagram as reported by ESPN. "To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing."

Janay Rice added that the media outlets involved should feel happy because they succeeded in ruining her husband's career after the Ravens decided to terminate his contract, which also prompted the National Football League to suspend the 27-year-old indefinitely.

"To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his *ss off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don't you all get," Janay Rice added. "If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you've succeeded on so many levels."

Janay Rice then added that life will go on for them, while Ray Rice said in an interview that he will remain strong amid all the negative things he has been hearing over the past several days.

"I have to be strong for my wife. She is so strong," Rice said. "We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us and we'll continue to support each other."

Meanwhile, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti issued an apology to their fans and sponsors for mishandling Ray Rice's case, saying that they should have exerted more efforts to obtain the video inside the elevator before.

"Seeing that video changed everything," Bisciotti said in a letter. "We should have seen it earlier. We should have pursued our own investigation more vigorously. We didn't and we were wrong."
