Shawn Marion officially signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday to join LeBron James in his bid to help the franchise win their first NBA title in the upcoming season.

The Cavaliers officially announced the deal in a statement posted on their official website, which confirmed previous reports suggesting that Marion will move to Cleveland once the Cavs acquire Kevin Love in a trade.

Cavaliers general manager David Griffin expressed confidence that Marion, who previously won an NBA title with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, will play a big role in Cleveland's championship chase in the 2014-15 season.

"Shawn brings great versatility, talent and championship experience to the team," Griffin said in a statement. "He will impact both ends of the floor and his ability to guard multiple positions will be particularly important for us. Shawn is an accomplished, high-caliber veteran that will help with leadership on and off the court."

Marion, who averaged 10.4 points and 6.5 rebounds in 76 regular-season games with the Mavericks last season, also sat down with Indiana Pacers executives, but the 36-year-old reportedly picked the Cavaliers because he wants to win another title before calling it quits.

"I'm excited to be a Cavalier," Marion said. "I can see the hunger and mentality of everyone in the organization and l look forward to being a part of it. The goal is to win a championship and that's what I want."

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers might make more roster moves before next season as most analysts are convinced that Cleveland need a rim protector to improve their chances of winning a title next season.

Recent reports indicated that the Cavaliers are interested in acquiring Timofey Mozgov, but Nate Duncan of Basketball Insiders said that Cleveland will have to part ways with Dion Waiters to convince the Denver Nuggets to trade the Russian center.

Mozgov played under Cavaliers coach David Blatt with the Russian national team in several international competitions over the past several years.
