According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a small earthquake occurred in southwest Nevada earlier today, about 15 miles southwest of Las Vegas. The earthquake happened at 3:11 a.m. Sunday morning.

There were various reports on Twitter about people being woken up by the earthquake, and some lighthearted memes were made mocking the lack of severity in the quake.

Las Vegas Review-Journal writer Adam Hill tweeted, "Anybody up in Vegas? Did we just have an earthquake?" a minute after the quake.

Memes began circulating on social media with a picture of an intact lawn with a dumpster knocked over reading "WE SURVIVED #VEGASQUAKE 10/05/2014"

Other reports were less sarcastic and more descriptive of the experience.

Chandra Cascone claimed to have felt the earthquake as far as Summerline Nevada and tweeted, "Definitely felt that earthquake. Wow. My first one! Felt like a big giant bumped into my house."

Tyler Mitchel tweeted, "Had a 3.6 earthquake in Las Vegas this morning around 330 thought I was going crazy in the entire house shook."

The Associated Press reported that Randy Baldwin of the USGS geophysicist described the quake as having "non-damaging intensity." The quake only measured 3.6-magnitude intensity near Enterprise, Nevada.

KTNV reports that the quake could be felt in Henderson and in North Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue said that the quake was felt downtown, but there weren't any calls to the 911 Center and that there were no immediate reports of damage or injury.

KVVU-TV reported that the epicenter was located nine miles south-southwest of the southwest Valley near Sloan.

Tim Szymanski of Las Vegas Fire and Rescue said that the epicenter was in a remote part of Nevada. Although he reported that he felt it at the call center in downtown Las Vegas, they didn't receive any calls pertaining to it.
