As anticipated, a second Apple event this fall is on the calendar with the next round of new products, including iPads, will be revealed on Oct. 16.

Yahoo News reported the event was announced for Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. EST, which will reportedly include the new lineup of iPads and iMacs.

An invitation to the event was sent out to media organizations, and will likely be more low-key than the iPhone 6 release event.

The rumors swirling around the possible developments to the iPads focus on screen size and security.

It is likely the iPad screens are bigger, similar to the move with the new iPhones, and in addition there will possibly be Touch ID sensors to unlock via fingerprint -- which was first introduced in the iPhone 5s.

The Washington Post reported that some of the tech blogs have their own versions of what will be released in the iPad lineup.

The Michael Report has stated that a second-generation iPad Air and a third-generation iPad mini are what users can expect. In addition, the new Macs and official launch of OS X 10.10, Yosemite, which will also likely be on the iPads.

Some of the rumored changes include the volume buttons, better camera for video conferencing, slimmer design, and increased memory.

The news of the iPad releases comes just as reports have been circulating of a decline in the tablet market in the U.S., while smartphones have become increasingly more popular.

In July, International Data Corp reported that third-quarter shipments dropped by 1.5 percent from the same period last year, Washington Post reported.

The reason for the increase in smartphone popularity appears to be the larger screen sizes that are becoming available, including Apple's decision with the iPhone 6.

The Independent reported that in addition to the iPad Air, there will likely be a release for the rumored iPad Pro, which is supposed to be the answer to Microsoft's Surface Pro, the tablet that was built to replace a laptop.
