Gennady Golovkin wants to face either Miguel Cotto or Saul "Canelo" Alvarez after his upcoming fight with Marco Antonio Rubio on Saturday at StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Golovkin, the reigning World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization middleweight champion, admitted that he is not yet considered a boxing superstar.

But after his title defense against Rubio, Golovkin is hoping that he will get pay-per-view fights against Cotto and Alvarez or even against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

"I'm not a big superstar right now," Golovkin said via BoxingScene. "I'm just a champion of the WBA and IBO. Look, I think Marco Antonio Rubio right now is the best opponent for me. He's the interim-champion of the WBC. And in the future, I hope for a pay-per-view fight with Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez, Chavez Jr. Just three names that are pay-per-view fights, I hope."

Golovkin's manager, Oleg Hermann, also said in an interview that big things are ahead of Golovkin, who holds an impressive 30-0 record with 27 knockout victories.

Hermann is expecting a tough fight for Golovkin on Saturday, but he pointed out that they decided to face Rubio because they felt that it would be Golovkin's ticket to big-money fights next year.

If Golovkin successfully defends his title against Rubio, Hermann is confident that the 32-year-old Kazakh will get a title unification fight against Cotto, the reigning World Boxing Council middleweight champion, next year.

"If we are successful we will be able to unify the titles next year and conduct a fight for the WBC world title with Miguel Cotto," Hermann said. "In the United States, for stars such as Cotto, the WBC championship belt is very appreciated. I don't believe their side will pass on the opportunity of meeting with Golovkin."

Alvarez, on the other hand, said that his camp is focused on getting a fight against Cotto in May 2015, but the former light middleweight champion said that he will also consider facing Golovkin in the near future.

"Without a doubt, that fight can be made in the future," Alvarez said of facing Golovkin. "In the next couple of years, it can be done. We're not that far apart on the weight. He's a strong fighter and I think it would be a good fight."
