Is it goodbye or see you later for the Fantastic Four comic books? The continuing superhero adventures of Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing appear to be coming to an end because of either low sales, or a studio feud between Marvel and Twentieth Century Fox.

The unconfirmed rumors of the end of Marvel's beloved comic book superheroes, the Fantastic Four, have been rampant since May. The rumors have been squashed by Marvel executives, but at this year's New York Comic Con it seemed apparent that that the dynamic four will be going on hiatus for a while.

Bleeding Cool News reported that the comics will be put on hold, but the characters will still appear in comics, such as "Inhuman" and "Avengers,"

The feud between Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel has left the Fantastic Four as the loser. Currently, Fox owns the rights to Fantastic Four, as well as the "X-Men" Movies. Marvel sold Fox the rights to the aforementioned comics at a time when their company was going through bankruptcy, Bleeding Cool News reported. In the long-term, the deal did not help Marvel.

As a result of Fox's ownership of the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, Fox will be the only one financially benefiting from those earnings. Marvel and Marvel Studios decided to push replacements from their Marvel universe such as, "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "The Avengers," Bleeding Cools News reported.

From the conflict between Marvel and Fox, to trying to make the end of the Fantastic Four invisible. Before the announcement at this year's New York Comic Con, a Marvel distributor Hachette revealed that the Fantastic Four comics would be ending in Spring 2015, The Hollywood Reporter noted. Marvel at that time did not confirm or deny anything.

The Fantastic Four writer James Robinson, at the "Axel-in-Charge" panel at New York Comic Con, finally said that they "would be going away for a while."

The end of the Fantastic Four includes a battle with some villains, known as the invaders. The Fantastic Four and those villains will engage in an attempt to hunt for Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards, and the missing children of the Future Foundation, IGN reported.

Robinson, the Fantastic Four scribe, has had a polarizing time with fans convincing them of the new and darker direction that he took for the superhero four.

"This is what I will say: When I started this book, some people were open to it, but there was a lot of negativity because I heard, 'Oh, my God -- James Robinson is going to do this dark, depressing Fantastic Four book. Who cares? That's not what we want!' I think I surprised everybody in that the book is still, I think, a pretty good Fantastic Four book," Robinson said, Comic Book Resources reported.

Now that the "comic book is going away everyone is upset," Robinson said.

The upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie and sales might have something to do with the comic book's hiatus. Some sources believe that the declining sales of the Fantastic Four has added to the superhero four's break, IGN reported.

The comic book will end in Spring 2015, while the "Fantastic Four" movie will debut on Aug. 7, 2015. The Invisible Woman is expected to appear in "Avengers" Issue #35.
