Choosing an iPhone 6 is a pretty straightforward endeavor. Pick a size -- "Plus" or not -- and a color -- "space gray," gold or silver. All in all, you've got six options. Choosing the Starbucks coffee to sip on while you play with your new phone is much tougher (you can choose from 80,000 different drinks, as the Huffington Post reported).

If you want to protect your new toy with a case, however, few limits will rein in your desire to customize and accessorize. You could, of course, opt for Apple's own products, which will set you back $35 for a silicone case ($39 for the Plus size), available in six different colors, or $45 ($49) for the leather variant, available in five colors.

Or you can take a peek at what the creative minds of dozens of other providers have come up with. Here, we've compiled some of the highlights:

  • Sure, you might soon sign up for Apple Pay. But why not use a case that also works as a wallet in the meantime? If you're a proud iPhone 6 Plus owner then Spigen's Wallet S ($29.99) may just do the trick. The case, available in four colors, wraps around your phone and has compartments for your cash and credit cards, as well.

  • If that's too much of a case for you, or you prefer plastic over bills anyway, then try Speck's CandyShell Card ($39.95, three colors) option. No cover here, but you'll find a compartment in the back that will store up to three credit or debit cards.

  • Fine with your current wallet but worried about your clumsy moments? Not a problem. Spigen's Tough Armor S ($34.99, three colors) offers "extreme protection" and comes in handy when you want to watch a movie, too: Its kickstand card provides a "hands-free viewing experience."

  • Or are you the sporty type? Griffin's Trainer ($19.99, black) lets you strap your phone to your arm and listen to your favorite tunes as you accumulate those miles.

There's plenty to choose from to get the protection -- and the extra perks -- you need. Don't be too hard on yourself when shopping for just the right case, though. Once the iPhone 7 is out, you'll have to do it all over again.
