Anderson Silva claimed that he signed a new 15-fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, assuring the promotion that 'Spider' will end his illustrious career inside the Octagon.

Silva had eight fights left in the contract he signed in 2012, including his comeback fight against Nick Diaz at UFC 183 on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas. The 39-year-old mixed martial arts superstar said that the previous contract was nullified and was changed into a 15-fight deal on Thursday.

"I had seven fights on my contract," Silva said via MMA Junkie. "I met (UFC executives) Lorenzo (Fertitta) and Dana (White) on Thursday, and that contract was canceled. We signed for another 15 fights. To make Dana crazy, I signed for 15 more fights. And to make my family crazy too."

According to ESPN, Silva had "history of playing coy with the media" that makes his statement doubtful at this point, especially after Silva's manager, Ed Soares, did not respond to queries about the alleged deal.

But when White was asked if Silva's claim that he got a new 15-fight deal with the promotion is true, the UFC president said: "Must be, if he said it."

The former middleweight champion is still working his way back from the gruesome injury he sustained during his rematch against Chris Weidman in December last year.

Silva will look to impress in his return bout against Diaz as he is still aiming to get another title shot next year, which means that another rematch with Weidman is not yet out of the picture.

Aside from Weidman, Silva is expected to be linked to reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Phil Davis after the latter called out the Brazilian superstar after winning against Glover Teixeira on Saturday.

"I've beaten a lot of Brazilians and there's one Brazilian guy I'd like to face, and that's Anderson Silva," Davis said via MMA Mania.

Davis added in the post-fight press conference that he wants to go up against Silva, saying that winning against the former middleweight kingpin would be a great accomplishment.

"All the questions around the open workout were centered around me being the 'Brazilian Killer.' I don't know if I'd call myself a killer, but at the same time, that would complete my trifecta of Brazilian fighters," Davis said of winning against Silva via MMA Junkie. "One of the absolute best Brazilian fighters, and one of the absolute best fighters there is. Why not? He's an amazing fighter."
