Kicking off WWE Friday Night SmackDown, the WWE Tag Team Champions, Goldust and Stardust, defended their titles against the Uso brothers in a Steel Cage match, with the winner of the match being determined by pin, submission, or escaping the cage. Stardust got the victory for his team, retaining their "Cosmic Key" after pinning one of the Uso brothers with a roll-up.

Kane came out to the ring to explain why Randy Orton got Curb Stomped twice -- onto the announcers table and onto the steel steps -- on Monday Night Raw, saying that despite it being a hard decision, questions about The Viper's loyalties made The Authority's actions necessary. Kane then challenged WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler to a Steel Cage match since the champ was so eager to prove he could survive against The Authority.

Kane was about to announce who Orton's replacement would be at Survivor Series before he was interrupted by Cesaro, with the "Swiss King of Swing" saying that he should be the one to replace "The Apex Predator" on The Authority's team. Kane said that he did not have him in mind, but if Cesaro could beat the person he was about to invite on Team Authority, Cesaro's spot would be secured.

Ryback came down to the ring to battle Cesaro and ended up pinning him after nailing Cesaro with his Shell Shock finisher. After the match, Kane came into the ring to congratulate Ryback, but Ryback had no interest in acknowledging "The Big Red Machine."

Christian made his return to SmackDown and hosted "The Peep Show," with guest Dean Ambrose. Ambrose said that he has nothing that Bray Wyatt would want so he does not understand what his problem is, nor does he care. Ambrose added he loves to fight and was not afraid of Wyatt or his mind games.

The lights go out and Wyatt appears on the stage. Wyatt said that Ambrose had safety and security with The Shield but that is gone. Wyatt offered "The Lunatic Fringe" an opportunity to join him, saying that he will save him. Wyatt reminded Ambrose that he made a similar offer to Daniel Bryan, but the former champion rejected him and now he is gone. Wyatt then asked Ambrose if he still gets postcards from his father in jail.

Ambrose, fed up with Wyatt's words, left the ring to go after him but the arena lights went out and "The Eater of Worlds" was standing behind Ambrose when they came back on. Wyatt warned Ambrose to run before the lights went out again, and "The Man of 1,000 Truths" disappeared yet again.

Nikki Bella then attacked AJ and said that Brie should have acted more sincere in her apology.

Backstage, Tyson Kidd could be seen flirting with Summer Rae and Layla. His wife Natalya interrupted him asking why has he not answered her text messages. Kidd said he did not have his phone with him before leaving with Natalya to head to the ring.

Summer Rae went on to defeat Natalya in their scheduled match. Kidd, who was doing commentary, got up to root for his wife, distracting her and allowing Summer Rae to roll up Natalya for the victory. Kidd and Natalya ended up arguing all the way back to the locker room after the bout.

Backstage, Triple H warned Ziggler that without Orton or John Cena in the building, what happened to Orton could easily happen to him in his Steel Cage match against Kane.

In the main event, Ziggler was hung up on the top of the open cage door before slamming it into Kane, allowing the Intercontinental Champion to drop to the floor and win the Steel Cage match to end the show.
