The parents of Jodi Arias are speaking out for the first time since their daughter was convicted of first degree murder in the death of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander.

Alexander, a 30-year-old California salesman, was brutally murdered in his Phoenix, Arizona home on June 4, 2008. According to medical examiners, Arias stabbed him 27 times, primarily in the back, torso and heart. She also slit his throat from ear to ear, nearly decapitating him, and shot him in the face.

Although Arias, 34, was convicted of first-degree murder in May 2013, the jury failed to reach a unanimous decision on her sentencing. As a result, she is currently undergoing a retrial that will determine whether she should be sentenced to death, life in prison, or life with a chance of release after serving 25 years.

On Monday, her parents released a YouTube video soliciting money to pay for their daughter's legal fees in her appeal against what they said was a "wrongful conviction," reports Radar Online.

In the video, titled "A message from Bill and Sandy Arias," the couple thanked supporters for making donations on Justice4Jodi.com, which they said is being used "to obtain the best legal representation possible for [Arias'] appeals." The parents also warned people against sending donations to any site otherthan Justice4Jodi.com, which they said is the only website they manage and has been endorsed by Arias, her family and her legal team.

"[Justice4Jodi.com can] personally guarantee that all funds raised will be for Jodi's defense and no other purchase," Arias' mother said.

"There are other websites soliciting donations for Jodi Arias's appeal," said Bill Arias. "We caution everyone against donating to these sites because we don't know whether or not these donations will ever reach Jodi Arias."

"We love our daughter. We support her and we stand behind her," added her mother in the video, which was removed two days later, according to HLN.
