Season 2 of HBO's "True Detective" has been the talk of the TV world for the past several weeks as more and more names are added to the A-list cast. Now, rumors on the show's production and comments from Season 1 star Matthew McConaughey are making waves as well.

The series, which will include all-new characters and actors appearing in the next installment, seemed to be starting off well with filming this fall. The first table read of scripts for Season 2 were reportedly read on Halloween, and it seemed like the show would get busy filming shortly after.

However, there are now rumors circulating that production has been postponed. Reports from BREATHEcast.com said that filming has been put off due to a still uncast role for the female lead.

The character was publicly offered by HBO to "The Notebook" actress Rachel McAdams, which she never publicly accepted. Despite general speculation that she would likely take the role, there was never any official confirmation.

Although the postponement is also just rumor, it is likely since negotiations with McAdams or another actress up for the role could have fallen through last-minute, leaving HBO scrambling to fill the spot. In another scenario, scheduling conflicts with the actress (McAdams or someone else) may be putting production temporarily on hold.

Hopefully, this change in schedule won't delay "True Detective's" debut in mid-2015.

From looking to next season to dwelling on the premiere episodes, McConaughey has publicly said that he doesn't regret not signing on for another season of the show.

"I don't regret saying no to a second season," the actor said to The Mirror Friday. "I spent five or six months working on the show and that was just fine ... It had a beginning, a middle and an end for me and I don't know where it would have gone from there."

McConaughey added that he wanted to pursue other roles and projects that interested him.
