"X-Men: Apocalypse" does not start shooting until April, but plot rumors are already surfacing ,with many pundits expecting the Magneto and Mystique relationship to flourish in the upcoming film.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the new film will put the relationship/romance between Magneto and Mystique "front and center." The news source states that the reason for this is due to Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence's star power.

Ever since the first Men reboot was released in 2011, Lawrence and Fassbender have become extremely popular actors. Lawrence has headlined "The Hunger Games" and become an Oscar-winning actress. She won the Oscar for "Silver Linings Playbook" and a year later, was nominated for "American Hustle." She also became the youngest actress in the history of the Academy to garner three nominations.

Lawrence is slated to be in David O. Russell's latest film "Joy," which will tell the story of Joy Mangano, the Miracle Mop inventor.

Meanwhile, Fassbender has become popular for his work in "12 Years a Slave," "Shame" and "The Counselor." He was also nominated for an Oscar as well as two Golden Globes and two BAFTA awards.

The upcoming X-Men movie is intended to be the final film of the reboot series which has explored the lives of young Charles Xavier, Erik Lensherr (Magneto), Raven Darkholme (Mystique) and Hank McCoy (Beast).

According to early sources, nine years will have passed between the last installment "Days of Future Past" and the upcoming "Apocalypse." Throughout the first two films, Mystique has been a main focus, especially her dislike for the human race and her hardships being a mutant.

The past two films have also teased Mystique and Beast's relationship and it seems like this could be a vital point in the upcoming film. Perhaps it will lead to a love triangle.

However, the main romance will likely center on Magneto and Mystique. In "First Class," there was a scene with both of them kissing. This may finally be addressed. Even in the original trilogy, Mystique saves Magneto from turning into a normal human and her devotion and love for the character is glimpsed upon. The films hinted but never truly brought the relationship to the forefront. It will be interesting to see how Fox develops and concludes the trilogy, especially after the success of the first two installments.

Even though there is no confirmation on who the villain will be, it is highly probable Apocalypse will be the villain. The character is a supervillain born with mutant powers and is supposed to be one of the biggest enemies that the X-Men face in the comics.

The new movie is slated to be released in 2016, with James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult slated to reprise their roles. Fox is still in production with very little known about the film or casting. Channing Tatum is slated to play Gambit, while Evan Peters is also rumored to reprise his role as Quicksilver.
