Nicholas D'Agosto, who's been seen on Showtime's "Master of Sex," will appear on the upcoming episode of "Gotham" as D.A. Harvey Dent.

On the episode that is aptly titled "Harvey Dent," the district attorney will team up with Detective Jim Gordon to attempt to close the Waynes' murder case.

During tonight's episode, Gordon believes he's finally found a comrade to help quell the rising crime in Gotham, but fans of the comic books know that isn't the case -- after all, Dent is the alter ego to super villain Two-Face.

D'Agosto, himself, knows the complexity behind Harvey Dent's character. In a press release for the series, he said that Dent is "ambitious," "reckless" and a "merciless, rage-filled guy," who isn't nearly as moral as Gordon, but he is a "breath of fresh air."

"One of the things that really kept standing out to me is that his father. ... They talk about him being abused as a child and that he had these, maybe, psychotic episodes as a child that kind of foreshadow his capacity to become someone like Two-Face later," D'Agosto said. "What I think was really good about that was that drives him to want to eradicate this type of behavior and also why he has the potential to have such a visceral response to when he's threatened or when he sees someone that he thinks is also abusive."

The winter finale of the hot new series (which has already been renewed for a second season) will air on Nov. 24. But, no worries, there are still 14 episodes left in first season, and D'Agosto will appear multiple times throughout.

"Gotham" averaged over 18.6 million with its first three telecasts, and "Gotham" delivered Fox's largest 30-Day multi-platform audience of the season.

"Gotham" airs Mon. at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
