The fact that we can even write a headline like the one above should give you some insight into how creepy and weird P.T. is.

In case you don't know, P.T. stands for "playable teaser," and is a free mini-game that you can download for free from the PlayStation store right now. If you haven't heard of it, we'll issue the spoiler alert right now. However, if you're already reading this, you probably know all too well of the significance that P.T. has in the world of survival horror gaming.

One of the reasons why P.T. continues to be talked about so much months after its release is due to the fact that it's such a difficult game to complete, despite the fact that there are no monsters to fight. The game is completely puzzle based, and the difficulty level of the puzzles themselves range from somewhat abstract, to downright maddeningly frustrating.

This includes the game's final puzzle, which requires you to make a baby laugh three times in order to get a phone call that allows you to complete the game, and witness its shocking ending.

It's worth noting that there is no sure way to beat P.T. What we're documenting here is the route that we took to beat it, but if you just search around for information on what other players did, there doesn't seem a consistent way to get that baby to laugh a second and a third time. However, we promise that what we did worked, and that it worked for other people as well. Just keep in mind that it doesn't seem to work for everyone.

P.T. PS4 Guide: How to Get the Second and Third Baby Laughs

Step 1. Take 10 steps in the final room when the clock strikes 12

Once you enter the game's final room and the door closes behind you, stand still and wait until the clock strikes 12 midnight. You'll know it's midnight when you start hearing a loud gong. When this occurs, walk forward and take exactly 10 steps.

Once you take the 10th step, you should hear the sound of a baby's laugh quite audibly. The next step is crucial.

Step 2. Plug a microphone into your PS4 controller

Plug in the PS4 microphone into your controller. That's right. Plug it in. Remember how you had to switch controller ports in order to beat Metal Gear Solid way back when? Something similar applies here.

Some players might say that you have to say something specific into the mic to get the second baby laugh. That wasn't true in our case. All we did was plug it in and go about our business. By doing so, we got the second baby laugh in no time.

This doesn't work for everyone, based on what we've read, but here's what we know. Some gamers who have played P.T. report that plugging in the microphone is the best way to get the second and third baby laughs.

After trying everything we could think of to get those laughs, we resorted to plugging in our mic. After confirming that the mic was active by saying "Playstation" while in the console's main settings menu, we re-entered the game and simply took a few steps. Sure enough, about a minute or two later, we heard the second baby laugh. If this happens, here's what you need to do next.

Step 3. Stand completely still until you hear the third baby laugh

Once you get the second baby laugh, don't make a move. You controller may vibrate 30 seconds to a minute later. If so, you know you're on the right track. If you don't move a wink, you should hear a third baby laugh a minute or so later.

Step 4. Answer the phone

Once you get the third baby laugh, the phone that's off the hook in the room you're in should ring. To pick it up, approach it, and interact with it by zooming in. Once you pick up the phone, you'll hear a message, and will be treated to P.T's ending, which reveals that P.T. is actually a teaser for Silent Hills starring The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus himself.

In case you need a visual, check out the YouTube video below. This is just one example of the microphone trick working in P.T., but remember, it doesn't seem to work for everyone. It did the trick for us though, and seems to be the best way to end the game.

Remember, you don't need to play any specific sounds into the mic once it's plugged in, despite what other gamers might say. We didn't, and we beat it.
