Yaya Dacosta, who will star as Whitney Houston in the upcoming Lifetime "Whitney" biopic, has split from her husband of two years, Joshua Bee Alafia, Us Weekly reports.

The reason for the split has yet to be determined says the Daily Mail, which also notes that the couple share a 15-month-old son together named Sankara.

Prior to starring in Lifetime's "Whitney" biopic, DaCosta became a runner-up on the third season of Tyra Banks' "America's Next Top Model" and lost to Season 3 "ANTM" winner Eva Marcille.

Following her appearance on "ANTM," DaCosta went on to appear on "All My Children," "Ugly Betty," "The Young and the Restless," "House of Payne" and, most recently, "Lee Daniels' The Butler."

DaCosta's upcoming projects include the "Whitney" biopic on Lifetime that airs Jan. 17 and "The Nice Guys," in which she stars alongside Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, the Daily Mail reports.

According to Us Weekly, DaCosta has yet to comment publicly on the breakup news.

However, the 32-year-old model turned actress has been heavily promoting the release of the upcoming "Whitney" biopic directed by Angela Bassett on Instagram.

There are no photos of Alafia and Sankara on her Instagram and the Daily Mail notes that DaCosta recently posted a photo of herself without her wedding ring.

DaCosta and Alafia married in June 2012 in an outdoor wedding in Pennsylvania, Us Weekly reports.

Earlier this month, the trailer for the controversial "Whitney" biopic on Lifetime was released.

People reports that the upcoming "Whitney" biopic comes on the heels of two other badly reviewed Lifetime biopics about Aaliyah and Brittany Murphy.

In addition to being associated with Lifetime's growing reputation for creating badly reviewed biopics, the "Whitney" film also garnered backlash following Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy Houston, objecting to the movie on Entertainment Tonight.

"Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family's objections. No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby," Cissy said in a statement obtained by ET. "In the two years since Whitney's death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn't know her. We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please please let her rest."
