Real Madrid may have had the week off, but that didn't stop their superstar from enjoying a great moment in his home country.

Cristiano Ronaldo was rewarded with his very own 10-foot bronze statue in Madeira, Portugal, where he was born and raised. The statue is part of the CR7 Museum, a museum which holds many of Ronaldo's records, personal achievements, awards and many more notable things honoring the great Portuguese striker.

It's extremely rare that a 29-year-old athlete gets a statue of himself, especially while he or she is still performing. This season Ronaldo has been nothing short of brilliant, leading Real Madrid to the best record in the league with 13 wins and just two losses giving them 39 points.

Ronaldo leads the league with an amazing 25 goals, and he is on pace to break Barcelona's own Lionel Messi's scoring record. In 2011, Messi scored 50 goals in 38 games, but Ronaldo is on pace to break that scoring record.

Real Madrid's next La Liga game will be against Valencia on Jan. 4.

As for the statue itself, many members of social media have given their opinion about the sculpture, particularly the shorts.

“This is a very special moment, to have a statue of me,” Ronaldo said.

Underneath the statue is inscribed "CR7" on the base. Obviously that is for his initials, and the No. 7 is Ronaldo's jersey number. Beneath that is engraved "Cristiano Ronaldo." Just under that reads:

NASCIDO NA MADEIRA 02-05-1985

BORN IN MADEIRA 02-05-1985

MELHOR JOGADOR DO MUNDO

BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD

In case you were wondering, the answer is, "Yes, Messi also has a statue." Messi has a wax statue in Wembley Stadium in London, England.

"Ronaldo has never forgotten his origins," said Dolores Aveiro, Ronaldo's Mother.
