Japan's Latin Beat Film Festival commenced its 10th annual run, which began with a public screening of Los Amantes Pasajeros (I'm So Excited!), a film from Spanish director Pedro Almodovar. Los Amantes Pasajero's Javier Camara and Blanca Suarez, who play the roles of Joserra and Ruth in the film, flew to Tokyo for the film's screening.

Los Amantes Pasajeros, which means 'the fleeting lovers' and 'the passenger lovers', is set on an airplane, on the most part. The film is about bisexual pilots, gay stewards, and the malfunctioning landing gear on the plane.  The film was inspired by Pointer Sisters' "I'm So Excited." And, Antonio Bandares, Paz Vega and Penelope Cruz make cameo appearances. The film won't make it to Japanese theaters until January 2014.

Twenty films in one week will be shown in Tokyo, before the festival creeps its way across the country, stopping to broadcast features in Kyoto, Yokohoma and, finally, Osaka, where it will conclude on November 10.

Japanese film enthusiasts have gained a once-a-year  chance to take advantage of cinematic opportunities that was not available to them ten years ago.

"It's an accomplishment to reach 10 years," Alberto Calero, Latin Beat organizer said. "And the interesting thing is that in this time we have seen how film in Spanish has begun - here in Japan and around the world - to awaken a lot of interest."

Some of the other films that will be shown at the festival are Rio 2096, No, Blancanieves, Chica y Rita, and El Artista y La.
