Not only do fans of "Criminal Minds" have a lot to anticipate when the show returns with new episodes in 2015, but they can also look forward to a brand new "Criminal Minds" spinoff.

According to Deadline, CBS has given executive producer Erica Messer the green light to launch another series based on the veteran crime drama procedural. However, the spinoff will focus on a different division of the FBI and will feature FBI agents who help American citizens in danger in other countries.

TV viewers will get a taste of the new series in the 19th episode of Season 10 of "Criminal Minds," which will serve as a "planted" backdoor pilot, reports TVLine. The elite team of profilers who travel the globe and work with local law enforcement to solve the crises of American citizens abroad will also be introduced in the upcoming episode.

The show will begin filming in mid-February, but casting for the prospective series is already underway.

This is not the first "Criminal Minds" spinoff that CBS tried to produce. Back in 2009, the network tried a backdoor pilot featuring a team led by Forest Whitaker called "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior." Although the show scored a spot on CBS' 2010-11 schedule, it ended after 13 episodes.

In the next all-new episode of "Criminal Minds," the FBI's elite BAU will track down the people responsible for a mass murder after they discover frozen bodies in Nevada. "The Forever People" is scheduled to air on Jan. 14, 2015.

According to CarterMatt, CBS also issued a press release with the official synopsis, which reads as follows:

"When frozen bodies are found in Nevada floating in water, the BAU's investigation leads them to suspect that the victims were part of a cult that could be behind the deaths. Also, JJ (A.J. Cook) confronts old demons from her abduction and torture last year. Grant Show guest stars. Faran Tahir returns as Tivon Askari, who abducted JJ last year."

Season 10, Episode 11 of "Criminal Minds," "The Forever People," will air on Jan. 14, 2015, on CBS.
