On March 13, Disney will release the upcoming "Cinderella" adaptation directed by Kenneth Branagh and written by Chris Weitz.

The upcoming film is one of the most anticipated films this year and few details have been revealed. However, one of the most intriguing things about the way Disney will unveil the film is that it will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival.

The film is playing out of competition, which is no surprise given the fact that it is not the type of movie that would generally compete at a major festival. However, this premiere is something of a surprise. Berlin has always been known for showcasing the best of European cinema and has hardly ever been interested in showing big blockbusters. Instead, Cannes has been known for showing big Hollywood blockbusters. The French festival has shown "X-Men," "The Da-Vinci Code," "Up" and even "Star Wars Episode II: Revenge of the Sith." The Cannes Film Festival has also showcased parties for films like the Hunger Games" and it has also brought the big stars to support these films.

For Berlin to open this type of film is a rarity, but it will definitely bring out the stars and perhaps give the festival much needed publicity. Berlin is a very niche festival that also has the European Film Market. However, unlike Cannes or Toronto, this festival specializes on art films that generally do not get much press in the U.S.

With "Cinderella" premiering, the festival will have Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Lily James at the red carpet. It is also directed by one of the most celebrated British actors and directors, Branagh and it has Disney behind its marketing. It is also based on one of the most beloved stories and it is likely to be a big box office hit.

The movie comes out a year after the success of "Maleficent" which made $241 million domestically and over $757 million worldwide.  It also marks Disney's fourth live action film. The company has already made "Oz: The Great and Powerful" as well as "Alice in Wonderland" which is the biggest hit as it made over $1 Billion worldwide.

Currently, there are no predictions of how much the film will open with. However, based on the previous three live action films expect the movie to open with at least $70 million. Additionally, "Cinderella" is opening at a time when no big blockbusters are available. Therefore, there will be less competition.

Woman audiences have also proven strong this past year, as they were the reason for "Maleficent's" success as well as making Shailene Woodley's "The Fault in Our Stars" a hit. "Cinderella" is a film that will definitely appeal to women especially since there are three central women characters.

"Cinderella" tells the story of a servant step-daughter who wins the heart of a prince. The movie also stars Hayley Atwell, Richard Madden, Stellan Skarsgard, Holiday Grainger, Derek Jacobi and Ben Chaplin.

Disney plans on remaking live action films of their classic animated features and will soon release "The Jungle Book," as well as a "Beauty and Beast" live action movie which is slated for 2016
