Terabytes of information surrounding "The Fantastic Four," the upcoming Josh Trank ("Chronicle") action-fantasy film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, are mostly that of horrible gossip and less media attention (any attention that has been given has been negative). Perhaps it is because this was the only film in the cannon of superhero films announced in October 2014 by Marvel-"Black Panther," "Captain America: Civil War," "Captain Marvel," "Doctor Strange," "Inhumans," and "Thor: Ragnarok," among many others-to not be released under the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but under distribution of 20th Century Fox, and is a reboot of the critically panned Tim Story-directed "Fantastic Four" film franchise.

Directed by Trank and starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell as, the film will differ from preceding versions of the original comic book and previous films: Following a coterie of twenty-somethings who are teleported to an alternate universe, which alters their physical form and grains them spectacular abilities, where they must learn to harness their abilities and work together as a team to save the Earth from a global threat. Simon Kinberg and Jeremy Slater wrote the screenplay from a story conceived by Kinberg and Trank.

Recently, a lot of that bad news has come from reports of the cancellation of the spin-off comic book that inspired the script. At the 2014 New York Comic-Con, Marvel announced the end of the Fantastic Four comic book series, ending the title at #645. While Marvel could be planning a reboot of the comics, there's been no word from Marvel officially.

Writers at Moviepilot.com advocated for the group of hot young actors taking the reigns on the 20th Century Fox superhero project, nothing that Trank and his team probably wanted to go in a more dramatic territory and needed actors with gravitas that could pull of blockbuster action. Teller, who will play Reed Richards and recently appeared in the universally acclaimed "Whiplash," showed off his dramatic chops in the teen romance drama "The Spectacular Now" and surprised moviegoers in the post-apocalyptic sci-fi action film "Divergent." Moviepilot writers also noted that Kate Mara, who was tapped to play Sue Storm /The Invisible Woman, who played in smaller roles as a soldier in "Iron Man 2" and "Zoom," a fantasy action movie about teen who are brought to a secret facility to train to become a super team, has brought considerable depth to any genre she's appeared in.

Earlier last year, there was considerable controversy and racial backlash surrounding the casting of African-American actor Michael B. Jordan as Johnny "The Human Torch" Storm, who wowed critics in an Oscar-worthy performance in "Fruitvale Station" in 2013. Jordan addressed the outcry from critics and moviegoers surrounding his casting decision in March of last year, declaring that his experience in the genre (he appeared in Trank's "Chronicle") should speak volumes, while fans have been over the moon for Jamie Bell playing the part of Ben Grimm/The Thing. Though, much outrage has come out because of the character's design. In the original franchise by 20th Century Fox, the character was heavily criticized for his appearance, which may get an assist from the CGI department this time around. Bell, who has voiced "Tintin in Adventures of Tintin", is an experienced voice actor and has gone on record as being a fan of the comics.

Talking about aesthetic, the film's chief production team have decided on a "grittier look" for the iconic superhero quartet, ditching the emblematic blue and white (or these days, blue and black) body suits in favor of a more futuristic look.

Other than the casting of Jordan, and the new look to the team, archnemesis Dr. Doom is also going to be given a cosmetic facelift of sorts, it appears he will not be dictator of Latveria anymore, but rather Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom. In an interview with  Collider, Toby Kebbel, who plays Domashev in the 2015 film noted: "He's Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I'm sure I'll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours-I'm a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I'm 'Doom'."

"The Fantastic Four" is scheduled for release on Aug. 7, 2015 in North America, in 2D and 3D theaters.
