The New York Yankees have a lot of crucial decisions to make before the 2015 Major League Baseball season begins in April.

With back-to-back seasons of not making the playoffs, and Derek Jeter no longer on the roster, a lot of questions remain.

It appears as if Max Scherzer and James Shields are asking for too much, but the Pinstripes can still find smaller rebuilding pieces elsewhere.

Here's five free agents the Yankees should consider signing this offseason:

1. Colby Rasmus

An average power hitter who can hit the ball out of the park at a pretty good rate. His batting average has never even come close to finishing .300 for a season, but Colby Rasmus could be nice addition for the right price. Rasmus has played the last four years of his career with the Toronto Blue Jays, so he knows what it's like to compete in the American League East. Still just 28 years old, Rasmus has hit 63 home runs in his last three seasons and has a career slugging percentage of .438.

2. Nori Aoki

The Yankees need hits. Last season the Yankees ranked 23rd overall in hits and 20th in team batting average. Nori Aoki could be a great addition to a lineup that has struggled to get hits in recent years. The San Francisco Giants and Baltimore Orioles have both shown interest in the 33-year-old Japanese right fielder. Aoki has successfully eclipsed 140 hits in a season all three of his years in MLB, including a fantastic 171-hit 2013 season. He may stand just 5-foot-9, but Aoki is a quality contact hitter who could be a good low cost investment.

3. Ichiro Suzuki

This is a tough one. Ichiro Suzuki is approaching 3,000 career hits, and he too is a contact hitter that the Yankees could use. Suzuki's numbers have been dropping, and he is now 41 years old. If the Yankees were to re-sign Suzuki, it would most likely be a one-year contract. Although 41 years of age, Suzuki did have 102 hits last season, and he also had a team-high .284 batting average. A somewhat valuable asset but definitely not a long-term solution for the Yankees. Suzuki has played the last two and a half years for the Bronx Bombers, so he is fully aware of the system in place and manager Joe Girardi.

4. Rickie Weeks

Rickie Weeks has spent his entire MLB career with the Milwaukee Brewers since 2003. Now, a free agent, the 32-year-old second baseman is drawing interest from the St. Louis Cardinals. Unfortunately for some teams, Weeks has not been willing to change positions, and Brendan Ryan most likely won't want to leave his current second base position. Weeks batted .274 last season with an impressive .452 slugging percentage. He won't bring a lot of stolen bases or home runs, but adding Weeks to the Yankees lineup would be an improvement.

5. Ryan Vogelsong

Considering the Yankees ranked 18th overall in team pitching last season, it might be a good idea to add some depth to the mound. Former San Francisco Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong is still a free agent, and Masahiro Tanaka could use early rest and support. Vogelsong is a two time World Series champion and a seasoned veteran. CC Sabathia is slowing down and injuries are piling up. Adding Vogelsong to start 15 games could provide some balance and stability throughout the season.
