Jennifer Lopez made the rounds at Univision on Tuesday. The "The Boy Next Door" star did a little bit of everything while visiting the Spanish-language network.

On "Primer Impacto," Lopez talked about making her children a focal point of her HBO documentary, "Jennifer Lopez: Dance Again." She explained that at the beginning of her career she was much more guarded, but being a judge on "American Idol" taught her there's also "strength to being vulnerable." Lopez said the show also showed her that there's nothing wrong with displaying more personal parts of her life.

"And it's nothing bad to share your experiences and the lessons you have learned in life," Lopez explained. "It wasn't that I wanted to put my children out there. It wasn't that, but it was about being honest and saying, 'I went through this.' And they are with me, and they are the most important things in my life."

Lopez added that she tries to overcome any setbacks because of her kids, and her children help her through obstacles.

In addition, being a mother has made Lopez appreciate her own mother more.

"When they were 2, she gave me a letter," Lopez said. "It said, 'How you feel about Max and Emme, I feel about you.' It really touched me. I said, 'Oh, my God. Wow. That's the truth.'"

Lopez is able to deal with her mother's "craziness" now but admits that as a teenager it sometimes bothered her. Still, she respects her mother for having raised three girls at such a young age. Lopez's oldest sister was born when her mother was 20, and her mother didn't have the help that Lopez is lucky to have.

The star also said that she may not often voice how proud she is to be a Puerto Rican and Latina, but it's how she feels.

"I don't think about it much," she said. "It's not like I feel like I have to say this. I don't think about it that way. I just feel like that. I feel proud."

Lopez said that she is in the best moment of her life. She realized that she was the one who was getting in her way before.

"I was in the wrong before," she said. "I had to find that love and that happiness with myself. And I'm happier now because of that."

The singer said she's always a work in progress and joked that, just as with her Spanish, she is always trying to improve.

Lopez also stopped by "Despierta America," where she revealed that she is a big fan of Menudo. Host and former Menudo member Johnny Lozada was in disbelief when she said that she would wait for the band outside of hotels. The star also played a round of charades with the team at "Despierta America."

"The Boy Next Door" hits theaters on Jan. 23, 2015.
