The 2015 Australian Open promises to be a memorable tennis tournament.

The No. 1 ranked player in the world, Novak Djokovic, looks to continue his dominance with an eighth career grand slam victory. Djokovic has won the Australian Open three of last four years. Djokovic is still just 27 years old, and at the rate he is going, he will finish as an all-time great.

Standing in his way is Roger Federer, the most successful tennis player of all time. Federer has won 17 career grand slam championships, three more than anyone else. Federer has had success at the Australian Open winning it four times, most recently in 2010. Although a great player, some fans are beginning to doubt Federer, as he has won just one grand slam title over the last four years.

The No. 3 ranked player in the world is Rafael Nadal. Nadal is always in contention to win the biggest tennis competitions in the world, especially grand slam titles. With 14 career grand slam wins, Nadal ranks second all-time behind only Federer, and he's closing the gap. Nadal dominates the French Open unlike any player we've ever seen, but he has just one win at the Australian Open.

Last year Nadal lost to Stanislas Wawrinka in the finals of the Australian Open.

Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have all been placed in different groups, so we won't see them collide until the quarterfinals at the earliest. It does look like Europe's dominating run will end anytime soon, as they have the top four ranked players in the world. A European male has won an incredible 39 of the last 40 grand slam singles championships.

Nadal has been battling a bad wrist injury, which forced him to withdraw from last year's U.S. Open. The wild card in this year's competition is Japan's Kei Nishikori. Nishikori is just 25 years old, and he played incredible in last year's U.S. Open making it all the way to the finals. Unfortunately for him, he lost to Marin Čilić.

Schedule, Where to Watch

The Australian Open will be played in Victoria, Australia beginning Monday, Jan. 19, at Melbourne Park. You can view a live stream here.

Predictions

This should be a great tournament from start to finish. Nadal knows he missed a big opportunity last year, but Federer is out to prove his doubters wrong. Djokovic should take care of business and win his fourth Australian Open championship in the last five years.
