Black Friday? How about backing that up to Thanksgiving Day?

Despite the fact that Black Friday is named after the wild first shopping day after Thanksgiving in the time leading up to Christmas, retailers are slowly making in a two-day spree.

A number of retailers will be launching their black Friday sales on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, with some even opening their doors as early as 6 a.m.

Best Buy just became the latest retailer to stretch Friday back into Thursday after customers apparently wanted some more time to shop.

"Last year customers clearly showed that they wanted to be out shopping much earlier on Thanksgiving," said Best Buy spokeswoman Amy von Walter in a statement. "Our plan this holiday is a direct result of that feedback and provides multiple opportunities for our customers to shop in-store and online, whether at 6 p.m., midnight or on Black Friday."

Among other stores opening on Thanksgiving Day include Toys R Us, Macy's, J.C. Penney, Kohl's, and even more.

K-Mart is facing criticism because the store was aggressive by deciding to open the store at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. They have reportedly responded by saying that they'd do their best to employ more seasonal workers in order to allow the regular employees to have some time with their families on Thanksgiving.

The United States' largest retail trade group, the National Retail Federation, is expecting a 3.9 percent increase in sales from November to December. Compared to last year's numbers, this year will be an 3.5 percent improvement.
