Rapper Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, said the burglary and grand theft charges he faces are a big misunderstanding.

CNN reports the recording artist and home-improvement show host was released from the Palm Beach County jail Wednesday on a $6,000 bond.

"It's just blown out of proportion," Van Winkle told WPBF. "I wish you guys would focus on the good things I've done."

According to the Lantana Police Department, 47-year-old Van Winkle is renovating a house next door to a $1 million home going through foreclosure. The rapper is accused of breaking into the foreclosed home and stealing furniture, a pool heater and other items between December and February.

"During the investigation, it was determined Robert Matthew Van Winkle played a role in the burglary and theft," police told CNN. "A search warrant was obtained and executed in unincorporated Palm Beach County in which several of the stolen items were recovered at a residence under the care and control of Robert Van Winkle."

The stolen property has "since been returned to its rightful owner," according to authorities.

Van Winkle, who stars on the DIY Network show "The Vanilla Ice Project," said the incident was not part of the show in which he renovates and sells houses.

"DIY Network has been made aware of this situation and is currently looking into the matter," DIY Network said in a statement.

"The Vanilla Ice Project" show premiered on DIY Network on Oct. 14, 2010. It features mansions in Palm Beach, Florida where Vanilla Ice attempts to keep his cool while managing contractors and state-of-the-art remodels.

Vanilla Ice is best known for his 1989 hip hop song "Ice, Ice Baby." He overcame drug abuse and a suicide attempt in the '90s, sold his California estate and took a break from music. The rapper then focused on motocrossing and jet skiing competitions in Florida but later studied real estate and started renovating and selling houses part-time.

Vanilla Ice has continued as a recording artist; his last official tour was in 2013 when he joined the New Kids on the Block tour alongside Boyz II Men.

The rapper married current wife Laura Giaritta in 1997. The couple has two daughters, Dusti Rain, 17, and KeeLee Breeze, 15.
