Martin Murray knows the odds will be against him in his upcoming fight against Gennady Golovkin, but he is confident that he can pull off a big upset against his heavily favored foe.

Murray, who will challenge Golovkin for the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization middleweight title on Saturday in Monaco, is not expecting an easy fight against Triple G, but he declared he is ready for war in Monte Carlo.

"I'm expecting a long, hard fight and I'm expecting to have to go through a lot of pain," Murray said via BoxingScene. "But, no matter what it takes, and no matter what I have to go through, my hand is going to get raised at the end of that fight. I know this is a proper battle and I know it will have to be a war. I'm ready for it."

Murray, who holds a 29-1-1 record with 12 knockout victories, earned a title shot against Golovkin after scoring a stoppage win against Domenico Spada in their World Boxing Council silver middleweight title fight in October last year.

The 32-year-old will look to win the world middleweight title, which he failed to do two years ago when he took a close unanimous decision loss to then-WBC middleweight titlist Sergio Martinez in April 2013.

Things will not be easy again on Saturday night, though, because he will be going up against an unbeaten fighter, who has knocked out his last 18 opponents.

Golovkin, who is coming off a second round knockout win against Marco Antonio Rubio in October, holds an unblemished 31-0 record with 28 knockouts, but Murray said he is not bothered by his opponent's vaunted punching power.

"It doesn't bother me that Golovkin hits hard," Murray said. "Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer it if he hit a bit softer, but it doesn't faze me knowing that I'm going to go in there with someone who knocks everybody out. I know he hits hard, I know it's going to be a tough fight and I know I might get hurt. I'm ready and prepared for it, though."

Based on what he saw from the previous matches of Golovkin, Murray is convinced that his opponent is not just a big puncher but also tactical boxer. The Briton added, though, they have found chinks in Golovkin's armor, which they will try to expose on Saturday night.
