CC Sabathia finally made his spring debut for the New York Yankees on Tuesday, giving his team a look at his current condition after being sidelined for the majority of last season due to a knee injury.

Sabathia, who only started in eight games last season where he went 3-4 with a 5.28 ERA and 48 strikeouts, pitched two innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 34-year-old admitted that he was too nervous before the match and failed to calm his nerves even after the opening inning.

"I was really nervous, more so than normal," Sabathia told reporters via NY Times. "It was kind of weird. I never really settled in. I think it was just being a big league game again. Being out there with my teammates, I hadn't been out there in a big league game in almost a year."

Sabathia was perfect in the first inning, but struggled to keep his rhythm in the second, where he gave up two runs and four hits. But outside of his performance, Sabathia said that he felt felt no pain in his knee. He added, though, that he needs to improve further if he wants to make an impact in the upcoming season.

"I felt good, no complaints," Sabathia said of his surgically repaired right knee. "I want to work on my changeup a little more and get that down. I want it to be my No. 2 pitch instead of my cutter. My fastball command was pretty good."

Yankees manager Joe Girardi also added that he was impressed with what he saw from Sabathia on Tuesday. However, Girardi admitted that there is still a concern within the organization whether or not the 14-year veteran will be able to stay healthy for the rest of the 2015 MLB season.

Girardi, whose starting rotation last season was hit by a multitude of injuries that hurt their playoff chances, said that the condition of Sabathia's knee will continuously be evaluated moving forward.

"Are there concerns that he can give us 200 innings? Yeah," Girardi admitted via Newsday. "I believe if he makes his 30 starts, 32 starts, we'll get 200 innings. But I've got to see how his knee's going to react. I don't think there's any guarantees."

Aside from Sabathia, the Yankees are closely monitoring the condition of Masahiro Tanaka, who was limited to 20 starts last season after suffering from a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Chris Capuano, a likely starter, also went down with a right quadriceps injury last week and could miss the start of the season.
