Call him "Darth Selfie" -- Star Wars's most infamous villain, Darth Vader, has helped the movie franchise launch its official Instagram account with a selfie and a caption, "Another day at the office. #StarWars #DarthVader #selfies #gpom."

This is the latest in a series of promotional pushes for the new Star Wars film -- titled, as of now, "Star Wars Episode VII" -- which is set to be released in 2015. The J.J. Abrams flick has launched its official Instagram account yesterday evening, and you can find it at https://www.instagram.com/starwars.

And as a testament to the movie's staying power, the account had over 60,000 followers within the first hour of its debut.

So far, this is what we know about the new film (according to BBC News and Cinema Blend):

-Production will begin early next year at the Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. Part of the reason for this move is for "Star Wars" to return to its British roots, and part of the reason is because Lucasfilms can recoup up to 80% of the losses incurred on the film, per British law.

-Auditions are currently being held in Britian for a "street smart girl" in her teens and a "smart, capable man" in his early 20's.

-R2D2 is confirmed to star in the film; so far, he is the only original character to definitively return, and he is the only character to appear in all of the films thus far.

-Lawrence Kasdan -- the script doctor behind "Empire Strikes Back," regarded by fans and critics alike as the best "Star Wars" film of the franchise -- is working with J.J. Abrams on the Episode VII script.

-As of right now, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) has met with Lucasfilms to discuss the reprisal of his role. So far, negotiations have been positive.

-Despite previous reports that Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa Solo) is definitely reprising her role, her deal hasn't been fully negotiated either.

-Of the three original cast members, Harrison Ford (Han Solo) has been the most indecisive about his return to the movies. However, there have been some rumors that some "standalone" films revolving around Han Solo (and, possibly, bounty hunter Boba Fett) will be released.

-So far, no other castings have been confirmed or denied.

We will keep you posted with updates as they come in!
