The news continues to get worse for Aaron Hernandez and everyone surrounding him.

The fiancée of the former Patriots star is now facing up to two decades behind bars if she is found guilty of lying 29 times to a grand jury.

Authorities say Shayanna Jenkins committed perjury when she said to a grand jury that she did not speak to Hernandez about the death of Odin Lloyd, the 27 year old semi pro football player who was found dead just down the road.

First Assistant District Attorney William M. McCauley said it was back in August when Jenkins lied about a number of things, including a box and other items that Hernandez allegedly told her to remove from the home.

Jenkins' attorney, Janice Bassil, shrugged off the accusations and said to the Boston Globe that the prosecutors just decided that "they don't believe her."

"Perhaps they feel if they throw enough mud against the wall, something will stick," Bassil said.

Hernandez remains behind bars and is heading back to Fall River Superior Court just two days before Christmas in order to attend a pre-trial conference. He has been at the Briston County House of Correction since he was arrested June 26. Hernanadez was released from the team on the same exact day that he was arrested at his home in North Attleboro, Massachusetts.

The former Patriots player rose to fame after emerging as one of the league's top tight ends. He played in a BCS National Championship Game and made it to the Super Bowl as a member of the 2011 AFC Champion Patriots. In addition to the death of Odin Lloyd, Hernandez has also been investigated as a suspect in a 2012 double homicide in Boston when two men were shot and killed while sitting inside a vehicle.
