Darren Sharper will serve nine years in prison after the former National Football League superstar pleaded no contest to sexual assault charges against him in Los Angeles.

According to Los Angeles Times, Sharper was sentenced to 20 years of prison time but will only serve 10 years of his sentence minus the jail time that he has already served.

Sharper admitted to drugging and raping two women in Los Angeles. The 39-year-old athlete made the plea in Los Angeles Superior Court, which is also a part of his plea deal in different states where was also charged of sexual assault. He is also facing related charges in Louisiana, Nevada and Arizona.

The former star safety admitted that he raped two women he also drugged at a West Hollywood bar in 2013 and 2014. The two women did not appear in court, but the prosecutors revealed that both of them agreed to the plea deal.

The five-time Pro Bowler also pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting a woman in Phoenix in 2013. Prosecutor Yigael Cohen revealed that the victim wrote a letter, where she said she suffered emotional harm after she was attacked by the former New Orleans Saints safety.

In Las Vegas, Sharper also pleaded guilty of attempted sexual assault for attacking two women. He was sentenced to serve eight years in prison, but Sharper's lawyer David Chesnoff revealed that the jail time will run concurrently with the other sentences in other states.

"We are pleased that after taking responsibility for his offense Mr. Sharper will not receive any more prison time in Nevada as his sentence will be concurrent with the sentences that other jurisdictions impose," Chesnoff said via Las Vegas Review-Journal.

According to ESPN, Sharper will appear in a similar hearing in Arizona next month. Late last year, he was charged with two counts of aggravated rape for allegedly assaulting two women in September 2013 after attending a charity event led by former Saints player. He is also facing one count of simple rape for a separate incident before the charity event.

All incidents happened when Sharper, who helped the Saints win Super Bowl XLIV in 2010, retired from the league in 2011. As a result of his plea deal, Hermitage High removed Sharper from their Hall of Fame, CBS 6 reported.
