Lindsey Vonn made a huge comeback since a terrifying crash that left her rehabbing for the better part of a year, and now the Olympic Gold Medalist is firing on all cylinders ahead of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

"You kind of know if your body is ready or not, and I feel like mine's ready," Vonn said Thursday in an interview with The Associated Press and the USA Today.

"I'm really excited. It's been a long time coming. But ... it doesn't feel like I've been gone that long. It just feels like the start of a new season," Vonn said. "To me, this feels pretty awesome."

The 29 year old skier tested her knee during a training run on Wednesday and waited a few hours to make sure everything was going as smoothly as she hoped. She deemed herself ready to go after experiencing no difficulties that evening.

"It usually swells pretty soon after if there's trauma. It definitely doesn't take very long to tell, to see if it's going to get swollen or not, but I just gave it the whole day and nothing happened, thankfully," she said. "So all positive signs."

Vonn's comeback attempt was put on hold last month when she crashed, but there was no serious damage and she will be able to make it through the Olympics before she considers more surgery. She was understandably a bit nervous as she was heading into the training run but her rehab is paying off exactly as she wanted it to.

"I was definitely nervous in the starting gate yesterday," Vonn said as she described how she felt before hitting the slopes "It's so familiar, yet foreign, because I just haven't been racing, and I don't have that adrenaline. And so that feeling was different. But now that I got that first run done with, I feel much better."
