It is normal for any successful movie franchise to sell out merchandises for fans to patronize and get as souvenirs. However, for the erotic film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, a unique merch will carry its name. According to reports, the film studio will come up with its own underwear collection through the cooperation of a Swedish retailer.

According to a TIME article, the underwear collection can be the latest addition in your gift guide list that includes undergarment necessities, like briefs, bras and even lingerie. The color shades for the Fifty Shades underwear include red, black and of course, gray. The Wall Street Journal reported the collection has been available since November.

KappAhl, the Swedish retailer who offered the author E.L. James with the lingerie idea, thought that the underwear concept would bring more "spice" to the brand and attract a lot of female customers. The book author even shared that the KappAhl staffers were wearing masks when they presented to her their lingerie ideas, just like how it was mentioned in her book, WSJ noted.

Since Black Friday, the Fifty Shades of Grey underwear products were made available for online purchases along with other brick and mortar shops.

Is it as racy as Christian Grey?

One spokesperson for the brand noted that while they do carry the name of Fifty Shades of Grey, it never entered their mind to implement the leather aesthetic design that the erotic series has always brought up in the book as a sign of domination. Instead they focused on uplifting the typical female reader's sensuality with their collection.

An Elle.com article however, posed a racy and interesting question that will provoke the minds of the book series' fans: Will a line of sex toys will be up next as merchandise product of the upcoming film adaptation, like whips or handcuffs? Who knows.

The Fifty Shades of Grey author has already reportedly garnered around $100 million for 2013 alone and she is predicted to earn more once the film adaptation of the book hits the big screen.
