This week a number of films will be released on DVDs including "The Woman in Black 2," "Big Eyes" and "The Babadook."

"The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death"

The biggest release of the week is "The Woman in Black 2," which scored terrible reviews and failed to reach the heights of the original film. The movie, starring Jeremy Irvine, tells the story of a group of children evacuated from WWII London who arrive at Eel Marsh House awakening the darkest inhabitant. The film supposedly takes place 40 years after the 2012 film. When it opened in January, the movie was a big flop at the box office and was unable to reach the same audience or enthusiasm. The movie is likely to be embraced by fans of the first film. However, with so many horror movies out in the market, and with the absence of Daniel Radcliffe in this film, expect it to be lost in the crowd.

"Big Eyes"

Originally expected to be a big Oscar player, Tim Burton's latest film flopped at the box office and also received mixed critical reception. Starring Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz, the movie tells the story of painter Margaret Keane and her phenomenal success in the 1950s and the subsequent legal difficulties with her husband who claimed credit form her work. The Weinstein Company released the movie in December hoping to catch on with audiences but mixed reaction inhibited the film from breaking out. Additionally, the film failed to score Best Picture nominations at the Oscars and never took off in awards season. However, it was nominated for three Golden Globes and surprisingly won Amy Adams her second Best Actress award. Expect Burton fans to embrace the movie and arts enthusiasts.

"The Babadook"

The horror movie tells the story of a single mother who is plagued by the violent death of her husband and battles with her son's fear of a monster lurking in the house. IFC Films released the movie back in November, and it scored rave reviews and immediately became a cult classic and a hit on VOD. However, it never reached the mainstream due to its limited distribution. With word-of-mouth still strong on this film, it may be able to reach new audience outside of arthouse enthusiasts.

"Maps to the Stars"

Two months after the release of David Cronenberg's latest film, Focus Features will release "Maps to the Stars." The film, starring Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, Robert Pattinson, John Cusack and Evan Bird, tells the story of a Hollywood family chasing celebrity, one another and a relentless ghost from their past. The movie opened at the Cannes Film Festival last year where it won Best Actress for Moore. It later got nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Actress, but was never able to resonate with audiences due to it difficult subject matter. Reviews were also mixed and Focus Features decided on a VOD and theatrical day and date release. However, Cronenberg fans will definitely embrace the movie while general audiences may not enjoy the movie.
