In "Secrets and Lies" Episode 7, "The Cop," Ben Crawford started his own investigation into Detective Cornell with reporter Arthur Fenton. Fenton had collected evidence that suggested the detective was a dirty cop. The two men set out to prove it.

Ben and Arthur made little progress in taking down Detective Cornell. The cat-and-mouse game between Ben and the detective continues to intensify, especially now that she has newfound evidence. In Episode 8 "The Son," Detective Cornell uncovered a damning video that could be used to prove Ben's guilt in Tom Murphy's murder.

Christy Crawford, Ben's wife, left home with daughters Abby and Natalie. She is emotionally unraveling in her attempts to accept Ben's affair with Jess Murphy, the fact Tom was their love child and the intense police investigation into her husband for Tom's murder.

Alone on Christmas Eve, Ben was overcome with anxiety about the video. He and Dave Lindsey retraced his steps the night of Tom's murder and searched for clues to clear Ben as a suspect.

In "Secrets and Lies" Episode 9, "The Mother," Ben discovers something in the attic that jeopardizes his relationship with Christy even more. Christy continues to keep him from seeing his daughters, though he does spend some time with Abby at a Christmas fair.

Meanwhile, a leak in the crime lab destroys most of the forensic evidence in the murder case. Cornell returns to the crime scene looking for more clues.

There are bombshell apologies and confessions in "The Mother" that will change everything.

In the promo clip, Dave apologizes to Ben for something, and Ben asks in exasperation, "What did you do?"

Ben attempts to reconcile with Christy, but she refuses to give him the time of day.

"You stole the best years of my life and I'm not going to let you take anymore," Christy tells him while Natalie and Abby look on.

A jaw-dropping confession appears to come from Jess. In the next video frame, Ben is shown outside a house shouting, "What were you thinking?"

Lastly, the promo shows Ben seated in a police interview room with Detective Cornell. He looks tense. His hands are folded in front of him on the table.

"That appears to be a child's tooth and you have it. Why?" Cornell asks.
