Social media channels flared with concern over Sofia Vergara's possible separation from fiancé Nick Loeb. Competing reports have stated that the ring has been on... and the ring has been off.

There's as much swarming fanfare around Vergara's potential nuptials as has been given to fellow Latinas, Christina Milian (engaged to Jas Prince), Alexis Bledel (engaged to Vincent Kartheiser), Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi (engaged to Jionni LaValle), Alexa Vega, (engaged to Carlos Pena Jr.),  Elizabeth Gutierrez (engaged to William Levy), Eva Mendez (engaged to Ryan Gosling) and Naya Rivera (engaged to Big Sean). 2012 and 2013 have been the year of distance wedding bells for a number of Latina celebrities. However, an exchange of engagement rings does not guarantee the resounding exchange of vows.

The highest paid television actress, Vergara and her longtime boyfriend became engaged on her 40th birthday during a vacation to Mexico. However, since the two spent this past Thanksgiving apart, the two have increasingly grown detached, according to certain sources. Rumor has it that the attractive couple's troubles have been money related, rooted in the fact that Vergara has grossed a great deal of money from endorsements for Diet Pepsi, Comcast, CoverGirl and Kmart, but hasn't invested that money into their company. NY Daily News reported that the diamond sparkler was back on her finger as of last Thursday, undoubtedly an attempt to dispel rumors, but the current state of the Colombian beauty's nuptials are still unknown.

While Latina celebrities don't suffer from broken engagement/divorces at a higher rate than other celebrities, stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Kat Von D, and Evelyn Lozada are prime examples that maintaining an engagement and making it down the aisle can be can painfully difficult for a Chicana in Hollywood. Normal stresses in relationships are magnified by wealth, status and distance. Romanticisms are met with Hollywood cynicisms, and those who manage to make it down the aisle still cannot be comforted by the confirmation of marriage, because Hollywood influences continue to sway marriages.
