After a successful first season, Marvel's "Daredevil" will be renewed for a second season.

Variety is reporting that Netflix has ordered a second season with Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez serving as showrunners. Steven DeKnight, who served as the first season's showrunner, will exit.

"Daredevil" is the first Marvel comicbook adapted for TV and it follows in the footsteps of DC Comic's success with "The Flash" and "Arrow." Marvel also has plans for "A.K.A. Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist" shows on Netflix and hope to team up the characters for a miniseries event called "The Defenders." The plan seems similar to the company's current "Avengers" model.

However, unlike the Avengers, the heroes that will be explored on TV are lesser known to the public eye.

"Daredevil" tells the story of a blind man who is a superhero by night and a super lawyer by day. The show stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Scott Glenn, Bob Gunton, Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis Hall and Ayelet Zurer.

The show has obtained rave reviews and currently has a 97 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have raved about the high production quality and for its quality storytelling and acting.

The show's response is the opposite to the 2003 film starring Ben Affleck, which scored mixed reviews and was a big flop at the box office. It is now regarded as one of the worst super hero adaptations of all time and has been ridiculed for its plot, villains and acting from its leads Affleck and Garner. After the film's performance, Fox scrapped sequel plans.

Marvel decided to make Daredevil into a show because the company believed it had better opportunities than another theatrical film. However, if the show continues to perform to such praise, Marvel could decide to make another film adaptation.
