Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez played the hero's role for Real Madrid on Wednesday and his rumored girlfriend Lucia Villalon was extremely proud of the Mexican soccer star.

Hernandez, who is playing in his first and probably last season at Bernabeu after being loaned by Manchester United, helped his team escape with a hard-earned 1-0 win against rival Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg on Wednesday.

Villalon, who is reportedly dating the Real Madrid forward, expressed how proud she is of Hernandez through a post on her Twitter account, praising Hernandez for all the hard work to improve his game on the field.

"Hard work, perseverance and value... Eternally proud!" Villalon wrote

Hernandez, who has been making headlines over the past several weeks because of his rumored relationship with Villalon and all the talks about his future, also celebrated the win through a post on his official Instagram account.

The goal gave Real Madrid a 1-0 aggregate victory in the quarterfinal and earned their 26th trip to the UEFA Champions League semifinals and moved a step closer to becoming the first team to defend the Champions League crown, which would be their 11th European title overall.

Hernandez, who has been playing behind stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in the rotation, said that the game-winner on Wednesday was the biggest goal of his career.

"It's my most important goal, because the present is what's important," said Hernandez, who netted the goal in the 88th minute off a pass from Ronaldo. "I've scored important goals in my career but what counts is now. This gives me confidence. It was a great assist by Cristiano Ronaldo. He played to win."

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti also had nothing but praises for the Guadalajara, Mexico native. Ancelotti said that Hernandez is not getting a lot of playing time to display his skills, but the Real Madrid coach said Chicharito has been working hard in training, which makes him ready to make big plays in big games.

"He was a fantastic solution because he played really well with a lot of intensity," Ancelotti said of Hernandez. "He deserved it because he hasn't played a lot this season, but when I told him to play he was ready. He was professional and I'm happy for him."

Real Madrid advanced to the Champions League semifinals along with Spanish La Liga rival FC Barcelona, Germany powerhouse club Bayern Munich and Italian Serie A club Juventus.
