There's a new controversy surrounding the death of Paul Walker, and this time it's about renaming the street that he died on in his honor. Simply put: the fans want it, the residents don't.

According to Bonnie Fuller's Hollywood Life, "several thousand" fans have signed a petition to rename the road where Paul Walker and Roger Rodas died in a fiery car crash on Nov. 30 to "Walker Rodas Memorial Parkway." Residents who live in the town where the accident took place, Santa Clarita, Calif., are saying Paul didn't do anything for the community and are not happy about this tribute idea.

The petition has over 2,000 signatures but the name change may never come to light. Santa Clarita city councilman TimBen Boydston tells TMZ that streets can only be renamed with the support of the residents in the town. Most say, since Paul didn’t have an impact on the community, the street shouldn’t be renamed.

Paul passed away in Santa Clarita, Calif. on Nov. 30 after the car he was in hit a tree and burst into flames. Paul was part of the extremely popular Fast & The Furious franchise. The cast was in the middle of filming the seventh film at the time of Paul’s death.

Walker's film career began in 1986, with the horror/comedy film Monster in the Closet. He and his sister Ashlie were contestants on a 1988 episode of the game show I'm Telling!; they finished in second place. In 1993 he played Brandon Collins on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. He and his co-star Heather Tom, who played Victoria Newman, were nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a soap opera at the Youth in Film Awards. In 1998, Walker made his feature film debut in the comedy Meet the Deedles, which finally gained him fame. This subsequently led to supporting roles in the movies Pleasantville (1998), Varsity Blues (1999), She's All That (1999), and The Skulls (2000).

As was reported earlier today, cast member Vin Diesel posted a message on Facebook on Dec. 22, revealing that Fast & Furious 7 will hit theaters Apr. 10, 2015.
