The 2015 Billboard Music Awards are set to air live on May 17 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

According to Billboard, Taylor Swift leads the BBMAs nominees pack with 14 nominations, followed by Sam Smith with 13. Next in line is Iggy Azalea with 12 nomination followed by Meghan Trainor with nine. Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen are set to host the upcoming awards show that is sure to feature a jaw dropping performance by Taylor Swift, who will open the show with a premiere of her latest single "Bad Blood."

Pink will also be debuting her single, "Invincible," during her performance and Mariah Carey will take the BBMA stage for the first time since her previous performance in 1999.

With only a little time left until the big show, it's only right to take a look back at some of BBMA's top performers.

1. Britney Spears' "Slave 4 U"

Britney Spears performed her hit single "Slave 4 U" during the 2001 Billboard Music Awards and had the audience members on the edge of their seats with her seductive track and equally seductive dance moves. Spears' 2011 BBMA performance was broadcast live as she performed in front of the Bellagio's famous fountain, Billboard reports.

2. Bruno Mars' "Treasure"

Bruno Mars glistened during his performance of "Treasure" for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. The critically acclaimed Puerto Rican artist kicked off his performance set by emerging underneath a handful of disco balls. Bruno and his band members who were all dressed in vintage red suits delivered a nostalgic and electrifying performance reminiscent of throwback '70s music groups.

3. Beyonce's "Run the World (Girls)"

Beyonce delivered a jaw-dropping 2011 Billboard Music Awards performance just as big as her Billboard Millennium award that she received that same night. Beyonce performed her hit single "Run the World" with an army of female back up dancers. She also included a segment where she featured various 3-D images of herself dancing alongside her. Beyonce's performance was not only visually stunning; it solidified why she was deserving of the first-ever Billboard Millennium award.

4. Michael Jackson's "Slave to the Rhythm"

The hologram performance of Michael Jackson in 2014 was a bittersweet moment for those who had the opportunity to watch it. Five years following the death of the pop legend, Billboard opted to create a 3-D realistic looking hologram version of Michael Jackson that performed the late star's single "Slave to the Rhythm" onstage.

Although some members in the audience admitted to being spooked by the hologram, others acknowledged the moment as a great way to honor the legend.

5. Mariah Carey's "I Still Believe"

Mariah Carey took the Billboard Music Awards stage in 1999 to deliver a powerhouse performance of her ballad "I Still Believe." Prior to her performance, Carey was joined onstage during her performance by Stevie Wonder and Queen Latifah.
